BREAKING: Zac Stubblety-Cook has clinched a seventh gold medal for Australia in the men’s 200m breaststroke, setting a new Olympic record tokyo2020 olympics stubblety olympics

The 22-year-old has claimed a remarkable men’s 200m breaststroke final, coming from way behind at the wall in the last 50m and sending his family berserk on the Sunshine Coast. He’s won in an Olympic record of 2:06.38, mowing down the Netherlands’ Arno Kamminga and Finland’s Matti Mattsson . He was third heading into the final 50m and unleashed his trademark finish to claim gold. His final lap was two seconds faster than Kamminga. Wow.

Zac Stubblety-Cook swims for gold in the 200m breaststroke and has looked brilliant through prelims, can he hold it together in the medal race? “The heat can get to your head! In today’s match I used a stupid expression to describe myself. Obviously I didn’t want to offend anyone’s sensibilities,” he wrote in Italian on his Instagram. “I love the LGBT community and I apologise for the stupidity that I said. Now I’m going to bed because in Tokyo it’s night. Hugs.”Marc Leishman said he’s been waiting years to make his Olympic Games debut, but it hasn’t been a happy one so far.
