Why the COVID-19 infection curve looks different for every Sydney suburb | pallavisinghal_

Some parts of Sydney have avoided major COVID-19 outbreaks despite recording high numbers of overseas cases, while locally acquired cases have significantly outpaced imported cases in other areas, according to new data that reveals how the virus has spread over time.

In comparison, only 23 per cent of cases in the Northern Beaches, which has the third-highest number of cases in the state, were locally acquired.Of its more than 150 cases, 113, or 75 per cent were acquired overseas and big spikes in overseas cases in the area did not result in significant increases in locally acquired cases.

"The social conditions in Blacktown are very different to the conditions in the Inner West and we're seeing different patterns.
