What is puzzling is the fact that even with all the education and awareness surrounding mental health issues, there are still those who just don’t ‘get it’.How dare she complain about her station in life when it is one of such privilege and prestige?Do we really need to remind people that depression and anxiety – and any other mental health issue – do not discriminate? But empathy is not gold or oil; it is never going to run out.

We can feel it for more than one person at a time, and sharing it around does nothing to lessen the sentiment. It’s baffling that anyone can see a fellow human suffering and, rather than feel for them, choose instead to criticise, to belittle, to trivialise, or to otherwise dismiss their suffering as unworthy of their concern.Even if you are lucky enough to not be a starving orphan or a victim of a terrible crime.
