When vaccine anxiety swept through Australia's diverse communities, local 'heroes' were on-call to offer support. Meet the volunteers who helped overcome 'panic and anxiety' during COVID-19.

Ms Penaia realised more needed to be done to help her "village".

"If our young people did not have access to that information — the correct information — our elders would not get it," she said.Through The Pasifika Navigators, a youth advocacy and advisory group, Ms Penaia has been a frontrunner in streamlining COVID-19 information. "Having that information coming from our people, you have a little bit more security there and I think that really reassured our elders a lot more," Ms Penaia said.

It isn't uncommon for Ms Penaia to receive calls from friends asking her to speak to their family members about vaccines and the pandemic.
