What the betting markets tell us about the seats set to fall on election night auspol

The $1 million splash eclipses the previous record bet at Ladbrokes ealier this year of $370,000 on Winx.

These are seats where the Labor candidate is offering $1.10 or less for a win. The Coalition has just 34 candidates in that category, while there are four independents including the Greens' Adam Bandt also considered to be near-certainties. Since the start of the campaign, however, the Coalition has managed to tighten its odds and in some cases become favourites in some areas.

There has been substantial movement in the past 48 hours in the NSW central coast seat of Robertson. Held by the Liberal Party's Lucy Wicks, Labor's Anne Charlton was installed as favourite at the start of the campaign. While just over two-thirds of the cash in the market for the next sworn in government has been placed on Labor, three times the number of bets have been placed on the Coalition.

Vegan burger maker nearly trebles in value on US market debutInvestors pile into America's first publicly listed imitation-meat company, as they look to capitalise on a trend towards vegan and vegetarian diets. It still isn't healthy food, only a diet high in actual fruit and vegetables is going to help you maintain an appropriate BMI and get all of your nutrients and fibre. This is why you see backlash against vegan products using words like meat, burger, milk, etc.. Its not the words themselves, its that they are viable alternatives and that effects the traditional non-vegan producers.
