The Australian dollar falls as low as 69.95 US cents overnight, while Wall Street continues to drop from its record highs over the Federal Reserve's stance to not cut interest rates.

Australian shares are expected to push slightly higher at the open, despite another weak day on Wall Street.The local currency was trading at 70.2 US cents on Thursday.

A drop in oil prices dragged down the energy index , making it the worst performing S&P sector overnight. With first-quarter earnings season winding down, investors are looking for fresh catalysts such as US-China trade developments and economic data.
