The death of Ann Marie Smith has caused 'overwhelming fear' among people with disabilities, according to a Government taskforce which is urging better safeguards around vulnerable care recipients.

The interim report identified a dozen "safeguarding gaps" — but that number has now expanded to 14.

Another recommendation in the report urges the Government to "extend the scope of the Adult Safeguarding Unit" to include younger adults at risk of abuse, starting with people with disabilities. "The sheer horror of what is alleged to have occurred in the last 12 months of her life and the manner of her death is what nightmares are made of," the report stated.

"There will be an ongoing consultation and monitoring process out of this … so the community knows where the Government is up to in terms of implementation of the report," Ms Vincent said.

Premier's hotel quarantine inquiry leaves us in the darkWith each passing day, it has looked more and more like this inquiry, has had the opposite effect, contributing to the withholding of information from the public and the scientific community. Yes - shouldn't we all know what went wrong as soon as possible so more errors aren't made? But Dan keeping power is more important to him. Of course it has. Andrews has no interest in having t/truth found out. He’s only interested in power, even if he has to trash t/State. His Govt has mis-stepped all the way but it’s always been ev1 else’s fault. So, “dictator” Dan is probably quite a good rep’n of him at this time Lock it all down Vic and nsw.

Now that’s thinking outside the circle; and a good thing too. Never use the word 'pivot'. It is important to remove ALL vital supply chains from China. Always good to see a little company lead the way.
