Astrid Magenau promised her dying father that she would be by his side in Stuttgart when he succumbed to the stage-four melanoma ravaging his brain and abdomen.
"I can understand that the Australian public wants to protect the general public's health but honestly, I do not see the risk I create for the Australian public if I leave the country," Magenau says.She adds she was more than happy to pay the $3000 for her own quarantine when she returned home, where she has lived for the past 15 years, in the past five years with her son.
Asked if she could deliver a single message to Prime Minister Scott Morrison, Magenau says: "It makes me feel like I am living in a prison, that's what I would say, it's a prison island." latikambourke What ! People are allowed to leave ..there are no real restrictions on leaving ..it’s just returning as far as I am aware ..you just have to find a flight route to get you there and that the country of destination will allow you in.
