First Nations people hold a wide range of views when it comes to the Voice to Parliament – but dissent doesn't necessarily mean division.

"We want to talk about justice, getting our land back.

"When you look at what blackfellas are currently facing right now, where you've got racism – racist violence endemic in the justice system, the child protection systems, in the health systems, in the education systems – that's why mob out here are currently protesting. But she says what it means to be Aboriginal is built on much more than any political debate.

"Even though they tell us we're powerless, we have our own forms of power we enact every single day – I don't think that would ever be washed away by a referendum.'Our people have got this figured out'

Have they found any aboriginals and asked them

How about you ask full bloods and half cast

I support a yes to Voice

Doing the bidding for the yes campaign?

The trouble is, its not 'aboriginal PEOPLE' that are speaking. It's the same old political animals (with tiny part aboriginal), who have been creaming & skimming the 'endless government guilt funding' for decades. The racism of ABC seeing them as a blob, not people is gobsmacking

Why should we attach any particular significant to the views of people who may have some aboriginal ancestry, but are clearly have more non aboriginal blood?

Who cares ? Ask the whites who provide the money , vote By a BiG margin NO

No opinion from nyunggai, no dissenting opinion. The ABC does itself a great disservice with this article and merely promotes anti-Left feeling within the community it is supposed to represent.

I do always wonder about the Torres strait Islanders, aren't they just as important? The fact that kmart removed all it's Aus day clothing seems like it felt this year was going to insult Indigenous peoples. I think fake Aboriginal artwork is. But we're talking about 3 flags here

For every aboriginal for the voice there is just as many against it as they know it's not representative of their mob/issues and will be open to rourting, Please ABC report both sides

What do non-aboriginals think? Ever considered them, you know, the ones who are excluded from all the benefits already exclusive to aboriginals? They're doing it hard too you know.

Meaningless virtue signalling that will not make one ounce of difference at ground zero where it counts.

The ABC and its presenters who live within maybe 40km of Ultimo, NSW know what's right for the N.T.

Big question is what do aboriginal people think and child abuse in the northern territories

They look wealth and where's the discrimination.. Looks like they want politicians appointed by them as more politicans put in by them

The fact that only 9,400 peoples an organisation delivered recommendations to the Voice Process … actually tells you a lot ! VoteNo

It’s a no from me. There are heaps of existing indigenous authorities/bodies, a minister and 11 representatives in parliament. First do an inquiry on where over $30bill pa and billions in royalties are going. They do not seem to be getting to areas like Alice Springs.

Radical idea: every non-indigenous person hands in a blank Voice vote. That way the indigenous will own the result.

Why don't you ask them what they think about this?

The Voice = Apartheid

Would be good if ABC sought the opinions of the majority of Indigenous Australians who aren’t professionals living in cities on 6 figure salaries.

The Stan's, the Langton's, the Pearson's, the Yunupingu's, the Megan's etc already have the ears of politicians and bureaucrats. There's no way they're going to share their influence with hundreds of thousands of Indigenous nobodies. So what is really the goal?

Probably as meany different views as there are peoples

Here's some non sanitized food for thought Attached are two images that contain a real but confronting experience of an Alice Springs resident (language warning) & a cartoon that reflects the gentrified nature of the voice I'm with Jacinta & Warren on this issue

How about ask some that dont live in capital cities?

Another deliberately misleading headline. CleanouttheABC

I can't see the ethnic minority White Anglo male community of Australians since taking power from us ever giving up. They still dominate senior management on my land despite far more capable non-Anglo Australians!

Have they decided on the wording of the referendum? I am undecided, the wording will be important to me. I don't want to see this as a virtue signal that Labour will use to tip the balance of power. I don't trust the government and want details before I vote for something

It's the classic motte-&-bailey fallacy (bait & switch).. Uncontroversial proposition (Motte): 'Aboriginal people should be allowed to speak.' Radical objective (Bailey): 'Aboriginals are a special category of Australian that must be given Constitutional exclusive privileges.'

People are hoping to emotionally blackmail the public with this nonsense. The question is not ‘should Aboriginal ppl be allowed to speak?’. It’s should ppl be given a megaphone if they have a certain genetic background?

We know. Aboriginal Australians created the request. Ignore the few Aboriginal wreckers (mostly politicians or failed would-be politicians).

'Should Aboriginal people be allowed to speak? That is the simple question before us,' Mr Hamm says of the upcoming referendum on the Voice. This is Gaslighting Mr Hamm has a voice. He is being quoted in a national ABC story. There is a Minister for his ethnicity.

The constitution is a rule book for governing. It serves all Australians equally. Singling out any group, no matter how well meaning, is repugnant. We have the same voice to parliament… one vote, one value. With the details hidden until after the vote, you’d be nuts to vote yes.

I will support what the Aboriginal Australians want but I don’t think they all agree on what they want so it’s very confusing.

What do Abbas Originals actually know about the Voice? Same as everyone else not much because there's no detail

Those pictured and in the article are very successful Aussie's. Obviously, they did not need an extra voice. Why would anything need to change?

Maybe better to ask the real aboriginals roaming Alice Springs, small towns and remote communities.

Man talk about white washed af smmfh

The Voice is not going to ‘advance the interest of Aboriginal people’Former Nationals leader John Anderson says the Indigenous Voice to Parliament will achieve the opposite of what Australians want, which is a “greater degree of harmony”. The no campaign - Recognise a Better Way - for a Voice to Parliament has officially launched with a six-member committee, which Mr Anderson is a part of. “I’m keen to join with four Aboriginal people – distinguished Aboriginal Australians – who can recognise that this is not ultimately going to advance the interest of Aboriginal people,” he told Sky News host James Morrow. “It will lead to co-governance, to a separatism. “We need to be focusing on unity and cooperation internally, not separatism.” Why didn't you achieve harmony with aborigines when you were Nationals leader? We need a voice to achieve harmony by giving recognition and dignity and respect to aborigines. And if ever there was a concept that would bog down the efficient operation of Government decision making…National, State and Local… it would be the voice and its demand for early input and obligatory consultation on a wide range of topics. VoteNo If they can fix Alice Springs on their own, I'll vote yes. Until then, it's a no.

Aboriginal Senator claims ‘elites’ are behind push for Indigenous VoiceSenator Jacinta Nampijinpa Price has dismissed the Indigenous Voice to Parliament campaign as being run by “elites” looking to push an agenda. Spot on Jacinta! You’re a brave and patriotic woman. You like lots of us can see through this apartheid dressed up as something very different from what it is. The constitution is a rule book for governing. It serves all Australians equally. Singling out any group, no matter how well meaning, is repugnant. We have the same voice to parliament… one vote, one value. With the details hidden until after the vote, you’d be nuts to vote yes. She is Absolutely Right.

Voice to Parliament is a ‘practical reform’Uluru Statement Signatory Thomas Mayor says the Voice to Parliament is a “practical reform” as Indigenous Australians are “tired” of symbolism. “It’s really about establishing the principle that Indigenous people should be listened to,” Mr Mayor told Sky News Australia. “We know that when Indigenous people are listened to about the solutions in their communities, then that is when things are gotten right. “It’s when we’re not listened to that things go wrong.” Is that near Ayres Rock? 🇦🇺 Practical reform would be to go through the 1000 orgs that already claim to be a voice & look at the end points along with cost V rewards. It’s costing billions & ignoring that & screaming we need more voices is purely creating a bigger hole

Albanese needs to show ‘true bipartisanship’ on Voice to ParliamentShadow Immigration Minister Dan Tehan says if Anthony wants to do the “right thing” when it comes to the Voice to Parliament, he should sit down with Peter Dutton and 'address all the questions' asked. This comes as a formal ‘No’ campaign is set to launch today, led by a six-member committee. “The tragedy is, if Anthony Albanese as Prime Minister had reached across the aisle and shown true bipartisanship, then we wouldn’t be in this situation,” Mr Tehan told Sky News Australia. “If he had’ve reached across the aisle, sat down with Peter Dutton, we wouldn’t be in this situation that we are, that we already have a ‘No’ case out there, putting arguments which really are about the lack of detail that we’ve seen from Anthony Albanese.” VoteNo He's met with Dutton on multiple occasions, maybe Dutton should ask actual questions instead of playing petty Abbott like politics. auspol Oh DanTehanWannon do you not remember the referendum on the republic in 1999? Two questions and bugger all details? Because the details are debated and legislated by Parliament, but the LNP already know that. Your turn for the RobodebtRC decoy?
