An Australian couple who paid almost $10,000 for their wedding said their experience was 'atrocious'.

Couples have had their dreams of a romantic Cook Islands wedding ruined after a pair of New Zealand-based planners failed to organise basic services for their big day.

Iakimo said when she later contacted the vendors Ingaua was supposed to organise they told her they'd never received bookings. The bride-to-be, who wished to remain anonymous, said the ordeal had been stressful: "We didn't really know what to do. It was kind of disbelief I guess". The couples said Ingaua and Wearing had apologised and told them they'd refund their money. The men had emailed them screenshots of what appeared to be bank transfers, but the money never showed up in their bank accounts.

Cook Islands police confirmed to the Cook Islands News this week that they were investigating two complaints against Wearing and Ingaua. New Zealand police could not confirm whether Ingaua and Wearing were under investigation due to privacy concerns.
