Most nursing home staff never trained in how to deal with dementia, royal commission hearsThe standard training for aged care workers does not include any education on dementia, even though the majority of elderly nursing home residents have the condition. Its hard to believe that they don't get this training but hey its not surprising but in saying that I am sure they don't need dementia training to know that if somebody is being difficult you don't bash them or abuse them. No shit What I would like to know is why did politicians (Labor or Liberal) set up this 'profit motivated industry' without the vision and foresight of proper regulation, monitoring and enforcement. Is it rocket science to politicians?
