Treasurer Jim Chalmers has hailed the Fair Work Commission's move to raise the minimum wage, saying it is a win for low-income workers and women.

Federal Treasurer Jim Chalmers hailed the Fair Work Commission's move to increase the minimum wage and award wages. Picture: NCA NewsWire/ Martin Ollman Mr Chalmers said the Albanese Government’s economic plan was all about “helping Australians earn more and keep more of what they earn”. “We believe one of the best ways to deal with cost-of-living pressures is to ensure workers earn enough to provide for their loved ones and to get ahead,” Mr Chalmers said.

Mr Chalmers said: “Nominal wages have been growing at an annualised average of 3.9 per cent, compared to 2.2 per cent for our predecessors.”
