Victoria recorded six new infections - which have all been linked - two were reported in Thursday's numbers.Premier Daniel Andrews announced a seven-day lockdown for Victoria starting at 8pm Thursday after three mystery cases were identified among six new cases.

"The advice to me from the experts if we were to wait even just a few days, there is every chance, instead of being locked down for a week, this gets away from us, we are potentially locked down until we all get vaccinated. That's months away." Mr Andrews said the state government had no option but to lockdown as there were mystery infections in the community.
