WA will relax its hard border with Queensland and Victoria from next week.
From midnight on Monday, February 1, Queensland will be moved to the "very-low-risk" category, WA Premier Mark McGowan has announced. It means travellers will no longer have to complete 14 days of self-quarantine after arriving in WA, but will still have to complete a G2G pass declaration, including stating which jurisdictions they have been in during the preceding two weeks and whether they have any COVID-19 symptoms.
New South Wales will remain in the "low-risk" category, meaning travellers will still have to self-quarantine on arrival.Western Australia recorded three new coronavirus cases overnight, but all were in hotel quarantine. Mr McGowan also said genome sequencing tests had detected another two cases of the more virulent strains of COVID-19, bringing to seven the number of such cases in WA hotel quarantine.
"The fact we continue to record cases of COVID-19 and the new variant strains in hotel quarantine only enforces the need for us to take nothing for granted in the fight to keep COVID-19 out of our community," the Premier said.
Hahah wow. This guy is just getting ridiculous. Where are these games he’s playing actually going to get him?
Playing politics. Opens up to the Labor states 🙄 Labor premiers really are the worst.
Like to go but don't think I'll chance having the restrictions change when someone gets a runny nose.
Yup only opens the border for his Labor cronies. QLD & VIC
Oh don't bother MarkMcGowanMP! Keep your border locked up for good! Grandstand...bandstand.
Its a shame, this guy was Prime Ministerial material. I would have voted for him in a future federal election. Not now, insulting language toward me as a NSW resident through the hard slog defeating covid changes that potential vote. Sorry, insult me and I must say 'fuck off' now
Careful you still have a election to win
Until a flight takes off, just about to land and he puts quarintine back on. JUST DONT GO
There is absolutely no logic behind this fools decision making.
Does anyone actually know what’s going on?
I wonder what the demand for flights to Perth is given anyone with family in WA may have returned and left post Christmas. I'm a proud West Australian living in Vic but I cringe listening to MarkMcGowanMP Wake up WA!
What a d*'head, all of NSW are still restricted...WTF regional NSW was never locked down and stuff all COV19 cases since this rot started.
Set to relax until someone sneezes interstate then WA closes again!
OMG ,, WA has 3 cases -- doomsday NSW has 2 cases figured that out
Unless you have family there, you would be absolutely bonkers to want to go to WA. The Prem will shut the borders if a mouse farts on the eastern seaboard.
these borders stories are very fucking boring
WA is dead 2 me
I'd choose Canberra's covid-safe app over WA's app anyday.
He’ll change his mind while you’re half way there in the sky 🤷🏼♀️
Still living under a rock in WA
why rush? or is there an election looming for 6th best economy in australia?
WA still has a hard border? 🙄
Who in their right mind would risk booking a trip to WA for the conceivable future.
not worth the risk to go there that you take off & you can enter WA but when you land you cant & you lose thousands of $$$ in bookings. WA may as well be another country for the next 2-3 years
So what? It will probably be back up before the end of the week
