The Victorian government will consult victims of workplace sexual harassment, employers, unions and the legal profession to build new laws to eliminate the misuse of non-disclosure agreements.

The Victorian government will consult victims of workplace sexual harassment, employers, unions and the legal profession to build new laws to eliminate the misuse of non-disclosure agreements .[L-R] Workplace Safety Minister Ingrid Stitt, taskforce co-chairs Liberty Sanger and Bronwyn Halfpenny.The Ministerial Taskforce on Workplace Sexual Harassment, which the Victoria government announced in March 2021, and its 26 recommendations were made public on Monday.

Ms Sanger said the work to be done on new laws restricting the use of NDAs will ensure victims are not silenced. The Andrews state government accepted 12 recommendations, accepted two recommendations in-part, accepted seven recommendations in-principle, noted one recommendation, and said four required further consideration.

“All of these processes, rules and laws can and should and will be used in order to stamp out workplace sexual harassment.“It’s a really simple way to look at a workplace hazard – in those cases it is the hazard of workplace sexual harassment, the injuries it can cause, and for workplaces to come together and think about what they need to do to stop workplace sexual harassment from happening, if it does happen, what they need to do next.
