The unnecessary deaths and abject failure of Victoria’s health system will be the legacy of Daniel Andrews unless something is done immediately, writes Sky News contributor Caleb Bond.

A code red – which means paramedics cannot meet demand – was called between midnight and 4am.

Quite astonishingly, there was no public warning sent out as there has been during previous code reds. But there is a state election in November. One wonders why a situation where not one ambulance was available was not worthy of such a public message. A study recently published by the journal found ambulance ramping in Victoria was at record highs before the pandemic and as many as 70 patients with chest pain may not have died in 2018 if they weren’t ramped.

What an insult. Telling people to go for a run will not turn around the broken health system. To blame ordinary Victorians for the failings of his own government, which has led to unnecessary deaths and is endangering more lives, is beyond belief. A year-and-a-half later, Mr Andrews denied ever making the promise. He, of course, threw Ms Mikakos under the bus over Victoria’s deadly hotel quarantine bungle, which killed more than 800 people. Ms Mikakos walked away from politics as a result.

Yes but they will vote him in again and again 🙄

DanielAndrewsMP this is on you and your Government, the lack of investment in our Health System over the past decade as drawn us to this point, and now the very thing that should assist people to live is actually letting people down and are dying. No Plan Dan!!!

Danial seems to have forgotten about the 830 odd deaths a couple of years ago hasn’t he?

I'm sure Matthew Guy would do better 🤣😂 Just kidding...

The Green Dashed line was federal Labor's health spending plans and the blue was what the LNPs - So please tell me who's fault this is?

Load of sht , and you know full wr he’s already doing something about it Meanwhile

Like the 1800 unnecessary deaths in Federal LNP controlled aged care that Bond never talked about? Or the 2000 unnecessary deaths by suicide due to Federal LNP Robodebt scheme that he never bothered to mention? Those kinds of unnecessary deaths?

Cheap power, net-zero emissions: with a commonsense plan we can have bothThe truth is that the current energy crisis gripping Victoria is the result of years of mismanagement and politically motivated policy under the Andrews Labor government. Does Matthew Guy have any idea how much those 'storage solutions' i.e. batteries cost and how little capacity they have? Or is this just about winning the virtue-signalling teal voter (whose ignorance will create permanent widespread power shortages for us all)? FACT CHECK : BULLSHIT Liberals will be in opposition forever Guy has seen the light? Or the election?

Melbourne is Australia’s most liveable city and I finally understand why | Anna Spargo-RyanHaving lived in Victoria’s capital for 20 years, it took six lockdowns for me to fully realise what I love about this place There is literally nothing unique about Melbourne except how hard people will try to convince you that it’s good. It has been gentrified to death, and only bougie economist reading losers actually find ‘liveable’. Guess what, all cities have laneways Because a survey company was PAID and some dribble spouting was written on a webpage. Most liveable for WHOM?!
