Daniel Andrews says 'no announcements' will be made about possible stage four restrictions today, amid speculation of further lockdowns in Victoria. 9News

Victoria Chief Health Officer Professor Brett Sutton has warned Victoria may not have yet hit its peak of coronavirus infections.Professor Sutton said if the state did not drive virus figures down Victoria could see "hundreds or thousands of deaths" like overseas.

However, he said the likelihood of further restrictions was in the "hands of every single Victorian". "We're not seeing that. But we've got a number of aged care facilities that are infected at the moment. We need to focus on making sure the staff who are turning up positive are excluding themselves at the very first symptom, are getting tested, and that we're getting that very broad testing and making a response as soon as we identify resident cases.""The primary thing is to never have infection introduced in the first place.

In a letter to parents, Lowther Hall Anglican Grammar School principal Elisabeth Rhodes said the school would be closed today and tomorrow to undergo deep cleaning after a staff member in the senior school returned a positive test result for COVID-19. "We have created more ICU capacity, more beds in our hospital system, and we have undertaken extensive training of our staff," she said.

This means private hospitals can continue to take on public category one and urgent category two surgeries.Group fined for illegal apartment gathering
