Melbourne reopening brought to a screeching halt as regional Victoria surges ahead | Sky News AustraliaPremier Daniel Andrews has once again postponed plans to reopen metropolitan Melbourne as he marches forward restriction changes across regional Victoria.\n\nAttempting to justify his decision to keep Melbourne restrictions in place Mr Andrews said “I know people are keen to have a long and detailed list of changes to the rules. It is not appropriate for us to do that now”.\n\nHowever, given the low case numbers in regional areas he announced substantial for regional Victoria, easing limitations on religious gatherings, gyms and funerals.\n\nFrom 11:59pm on October 27 gyms and fitness studios will reopen in regional Victoria, to a maximum of 20 people along with religious gatherings with no more than on person per eight square metres. \n\nIndoor gatherings will now be increased to allow a maximum of 20 people and outdoor gatherings can have up to 50 people.\n\nThe premier congratulated the people of Shepparton for working with health authorities to limit the spread of the virus.\n\n“I can confirm from 11:59pm tonight, greater Shepparton will also come into alignment with the rest of regional Victoria, with hospitality venues moving to up to 40 people inside,' he said.\n DanielAndrewsMP What if today was zero, and the next week was zero to. And we opened. Then the day after opening we get 7 cases, then 7 the day after that. Will he want to close again? What’s the diff in that happening compared to opening now? Australia needs initiatives 'specifically targeted to help men's mental health' | Sky News AustraliaPsychologist Tanveer Ahmed says if the Morrison government wants to make progress in their goal of zero suicide, they need to “target their funding to male specific initiatives”.\n\nFigures released earlier this week showed men are killing themselves at higher rates than ever before and were now almost four times more likely to commit suicide than women.\n\n“What we’re not doing is recognising that suicide is mostly a male problem and targeting funding, messaging and policy accordingly,” Mr Ahmed said. \n\n“There’s recognition when we talk about issues like domestic violence that women are predominantly the victims. \n\n“The same doesn't happen with suicide. How much of this is because we just can’t see males as victims?”\n \nMr Ahmed said the feminist answer to the issue of male suicide, parroted by many men, is that “blokes need to be more like women, more vulnerable, seeking help through traditional outlets like counselling”. \n\n“This view also seeps into our institutions,” he said. \n\n“Is this really the answer? Granted, traditional masculinity has taken a great hit with social and economic changes- work with the hands is not as common, men are no longer naturally seen as providers and protectors.\n\n“There should be an onus on organisations to target blokes better, go to where they are and also do a better job at recruiting men into care giving roles. \n\n“Mateship and peer support for example have deep roots into the Australian psyche. Male only spaces are important. We must resist the cultural pressures to feminise.\n\n“There aren’t easy answers or silver bullets, but this week’s suicide figures scream for a greater, more specific focus on men.”\n\nAnyone who may be feeling distressed can contact the following organisations for support. \n\nSANE Helpline 1800 18 72 63 \n\nLifeline 131 114 \n\nBeyond blue 1300 22 4636\n Maybe get rid of your storm trooper police force as a start ... EXACTLY!

Emotional Daniel Andrews announces Victoria will be 'one state again' from November 9 | Sky News AustraliaVictorian Premier Daniel Andrews has announced from Monday November 9, the 25 kilometre travel limit and the metropolitan Melbourne regional border will be scrapped with the state becoming “one again”. \n\n“For the purposes of travel and movement to COVID safety will still be critical, following the rules will still be critical but that little extra time means that we can align both metropolitan Melbourne and regional Victoria at that time,” Mr Andrews said on Monday.\n\nMr Andrews also announced Melbourne’s hospitality and retail industries will finally reopen.\n\n“Gyms and fitness studios in Melbourne will open on November 8, maximum of 20 people tend people per space, one person per eight square metres,' he said.\n \n'Restaurants, hotels, cafés and bars will move to an indoor maximum of 40 with 10 people per space, outdoor maximum of 70 people with one person every two square metres.\n\n'In line with regional Victoria and the alignment of Melbourne and regional Victoria, this is for faith gatherings outdoors maximum 50 people plus one faith leader, indoors maximum 20 people plus one faith leader.\n\n'Further, funerals will move indoors, maximum 20 mourners, outdoors maximum 50 mourners.'\n\nMr Andrews also said on November 8 his government will be able to fully explain to every Victorian, city and country, what November will look like, and what a COVID-19 Christmas will look like.\n DanielAndrewsMP The fascist dangles a carrot again DanielAndrewsMP I’d be moving from Victoria. Victoria Police and Andrews Government are ‘going to war against their own people’ | Sky News AustraliaFormer Victorian Australia Day Ambassador Alma Besserdin has told Sky News she resigned from her post because the state of Victoria at the moment made her feel she was back in war-torn Bosnia.\n\nMs Besserdin is the founder and director of Wimmigrants, a group which helps professional female immigrants achieve careers and integrate, and for her work she was made a Victorian Australia Day Ambassador by Premier Daniel Andrews.\n\nShe has now written a letter of resignation to the premier outlining how she feels ashamed to represent a government that is not representing the people.\n\nMs Besserdin said her and other European immigrants have gone through the stage of “losing their human rights” due to civil wars, and now feel in Victoria that they are “going back to where we came from”.\n\n“I’m absolutely speechless with police,” she said.\n\n“The last time I saw police like this with semi-automated pistols … (was) in Bosnia before I left, that was full-on war equipment.\n\n“Why (do) police need to be fully equipped like they (are) going to war?\n\n“Now I understand, they are going to war against their own people.”\n Definitely NoBeersForNewsCorp ThisIsNotJournalism Hi Sky News. Toll of veteran suicides 'continues to rise' in Australia | Sky News AustraliaSky News contributor Catherine McGregor says far too many Australian war veterans have taken their own lives in despair and are over-represented among young men “sleeping rough” in the nation’s major cities. \n\n“Those who have served on operations overseas know that the bonds forged among soldiers are powerful,” she said. \n\n“Sadly, for many, nothing fills the gap in their lives when they come home. More of our service men and women have taken their own lives in Australia than died in Afghanistan-by a factor of 10 to 1.\n\n“Yesterday marked the start of veterans’ mental health week. \n\n“It is a cause close to my heart. I led Australian soldiers on operations overseas twice and deployed three times. I bear no scars from my service, but many do.\n\n“Far too many have taken their own lives in despair. Veterans of recent conflicts are over-represented among young men sleeping rough in our major cities. Others have felt abandoned after leaving the service and trying to deal with a clumsy bureaucracy to access mental health support.”\n\nMs McGregor said the toll of suicides among veterans was continuing to rise in Australia. \n\n“It has been a tough year for everyone,” she said. \n\n“Most Australians are stressed and anxious about their future. But this week spare a thought for veterans and their families. And if you can support an accredited charity do so. \n\n“Lest we forget.”\n\nAnyone who may be feeling distressed can contact the following organisations for support.\n\nSANE Helpline 1800 18 72 63\n\nLifeline 131 114\n\nBeyond blue 1300 22 4636 any left Morrison will kill with aged care, vets affairs policy, robodebt or other wars We can all thank the Australian defenceless for this I heard from a veteran in UK that their govt doesn't want to help them.
