A woman in her 70s has died in Victoria bringing the state's COVID-19 death toll to five. The woman died in a Melbourne hospital on Wednesday.
The number of confirmed cases in the state climbed past 1,000 after 68 Victorians tested positive on Wednesday. Thirty-six people are currently being treated in hospital for the virus, six of whom remain in intensive care. However, the number of cases of community transmission in the state has increased to 57, up from 39 the day prior.
