'We think this industry is critically important to the future of Australia. Clearly, every country in the world is transitioning away from fossil fuels towards to renewable energy.'

The research was commissioned by The Clean Energy Council, which has called the findings “quite worrying”.

“We think this industry is critically important to the future of Australia. Clearly, every country in the world is transitioning away from fossil fuels towards to renewable energy. Australia on a path to doing that - we’ve had record levels of investment in renewables over the past few years, but we need a strong industry and a healthy workforce to deliver that.

“Many of the jobs in the industry are actually in rural or regional parts of the country, so these jobs are really important to some of these regional communities who have been doing it tough. Indeed they were doing it tough from bushfires and floods, and now of course COVID-19.”Aside from greater investment, industry groups are calling for a replacement to the national renewable energy target, in an effort to reinvigorate the economy post coronavirus.

Really? Craig Kelly? AlboMP CraigKellyMP Or is it about jobs because getting caught up in fighting means businesses won't invest until a clear policy is announced. Kelly can't accept working with Labor might actually be in the national interest because of ideology. FatherBob AlboMP CraigKellyMP How odd that the intellectual desert CraigKellyMP is against any effort at bipartisanship in developing an energy policy. Sorry Craig, you are a handbrake on this country achieving any success.

Negotiations on energy policy 'blown up by right-wing dinosaurs' | Sky News AustraliaLabor MP Peter Khalil is calling on the Coalition to “actually engage” with Anthony Albanese in his attempt to reach bipartisanship on energy policy. \n\nThe Opposition leader penned a letter to Prime Minister Scott Morrison setting out a plan to end the decade-long energy wars. \n\nIn the letter, Mr Albanese said he would back carbon capture and storage technologies for clean coal projects. \n\nMr Khalil told Sky News the Coalition needed to “take politics out of this so that we can actually start investing in renewable energy, create jobs and move forward to do what’s best for the national interest”. \n\nHe said each time the Labor Party tried to reach agreement, negotiations were “blown up by the right-wingers and the dinosaurs who are climate change denialists in their own Coalition”. \n\n“There’s got to be a willingness by Scott Morrison and his party and the Nationals to actually engage on this, not to run anti-renewables scare campaigns and play politics with this,” he said. \n\n“It’s too important to play politics with, we need to get this right and I back Albo all the way.” \n\nImage: News Corp Australia PeterKhalilMP AlboMP Witch one of you two bend over your desk for the other one to play hide the sausage? Anthony Albanese’s letter to PM Scott Morrison to outline energy policy approachLabor leader Anthony Albanese has urged the Prime Minister to end the climate wars in a letter outlining a new bipartisan approach on energy policy that’s being dubbed “a surrender note” by critics. AlboMP ScottMorrisonMP The electorate clearly voted against whatever Labor's plan was at the last election. Albo has no leverage here. He's looking weaker and weaker every single day. Either way, I'll wait till Greta Thunberg offers her opinion before I decide who I'll be supporting. AlboMP ScottMorrisonMP How dare he try to be collaborative, and acknowledge that any improvement is better than none! Im not a fan of Albo, but I actually admire him for doing this. We have to many politicians that are unwilling to work together and form compromises, and it is harming Australia.
