Britain's armed forces are asked to help deal with boats carrying migrants across the Channel from France after a spate of arrivals on the southern English coast.

Britain's armed forces have been asked to help deal with boats carrying migrants across the Channel from France after a spate of arrivals on the southern English coast.

"We are assessing the requirements … and are working hard to identify how we can most effectively assist," the Defence Ministry said in a statement. The numbers crossing the Channel are tiny compared with the flows of people who try and reach EU countries such as Malta, Greece, Italy and Spain every year by crossing the Mediterranean from North Africa or Turkey,Chris Philp, a junior Home Office minister in charge of immigration compliance, called the rise in arrivals "shameful" and sought to put pressure on France ahead of a meeting with his French counterpart in Paris next week.

France's Interior Ministry said surveillance teams on the northern coast were intercepting migrants daily and it had mobilised extra resources.

Nigel Farage is on the case

France must be a hell hole, if they are willing to risk their lives to head to the UK 🤣🤣

Let me guess, they are asking the EU for help, the same EU that Johnson, Farage etc worked so hard to convince voters in Britain to leave. Sorry, you are on your own.

an operation pickup instead of prevention from going by boats in d 1st place Just like Gillard did in 2011 we picked them up n 54k boat refugees came We still have d legacy now in Brisbane motel Just deport them

I hope the “refugees” don’t start throwing the kids into the sea

Pathetic ABC. You mean illegal immigrants crossing France & mainland Europe being allowed & encouraged by Europe to jump on boats while not claiming ‘refugee or asylum status’ in Europe to cause grief to the UK because they won’t agree to EU demands.

The last thing the UK needs is people attempting to come in via boats & possibly carrying the virus

Escaping England?

They already have been helping them get to the UK, haven't you been watching?

“Our true nationality is mankind.” -H.G. Wells (not a commentary on H.G. Wells)

Yeah must protect the monarchy built on lies

Blow them dirty refugees up.
