The incident began after a Toyota Camry and Holden Captiva collided in the citybound lanes near Pyrmont just before midnight.
Police allege both drivers were standing on the motorway when the pair were hit by a Holden Commodore and a taxi.The surviving drivers of the taxi and Commodore were taken to nearby hospitals for mandatory testing.
