Trump rejoices as case against Michael Flynn is dismissed

A federal appeals court has dismissed the criminal case against Michael Flynn, the former national security adviser to US President Donald Trump.The case against Michael Flynn was not immediately dismissed due to one judge questioning whether he could be held in criminal contempt for perjury

Mr Trump tweeted just moments after the ruling became public: "Great! Appeals Court Upholds Justice Department's Request to Drop Criminal Case Against General Michael Flynn."US District Judge Emmet Sullivan had declined to immediately dismiss the case, seeking instead to evaluate on his own the department's request.

"To begin with, Flynn agrees with the Government's motion to dismiss, and there has been no allegation that the motion reflects prosecutorial harassment," Judge Rao continued. Mr Flynn was the only White House official charged in Mr Mueller's investigation into ties between the Trump campaign and Russia.
