Sydney scientists hope a common blood pressure medication could be used to treat COVID-19 as researchers turn to cheap and existing drugs to ease patient suffering | rachelclun

Sydney scientists hope a common blood pressure medication could be used to treat COVID-19 as researchers turn to cheap and existing drugs to ease patient suffering.

"With new drugs, you can't get around the fact that they need to go through preclinical testing, clinical testing."Chief Investigator Associate Professor Meg Jardine, from The George Institute for Global Health, said developing new drugs can take years.

"If you can just prevent people from needing intensive care, for instance ... that really makes it much easier for a health service to cope with an outbreak."

rachelclun PSA - Improper medicated 'angiotensin receptor blocker' drugs will cause hypotension.

rachelclun Either you don't publish until the trial is over OR put out a WARNING before people do some silly thing like a pharmaceutical run to get 'angiotensin receptor blocker' drugs. Note, with your irresponsible reporting you are no different than Trump with hydroxyquinoline.

rachelclun Like hydroxychloquine

Global COVID-19 death toll reaches 500,000 | Sky News AustraliaThe COVID-19 pandemic has reached a grim milestone as the global death toll hits 500,000. \n\nThe figure was almost on par with the annual number of influenza deaths around the world. \n\nMore than 10 million cases of the coronavirus were recorded world wide. \n\nImage: AP And meanwhile, global influenza deaths have plummeted. Gee, it's almost as though all these deaths have just been re-designated 'COVID-19' to help justify this scamdemic. REMINDER: The PCR test being used has a 80% false-positive rate, and CANNOT specifically isolate SARS-CoV-2. Fake News Grim? Relatively speaking, perhaps. But more children will die this year from accidental overdoses and medical errors than from Covid-19. Will that ever be classed as a pandemic?

Community to 'burn this dirty, great virus' in a COVID-19 purgingLongley International Hotel publican Jack Brereton and his patrons want to 'celebrate a new beginning when the virus is gone'. They are preparing to torch a giant effigy of a coronavirus when the pub gets the all-clear to reopen the famous beer garden. Yeah! Love it 🔥 It was NOT the virus that caused all the unnecessary socioeconomic damage but rather the mindlessly exaggerated and inappropriate management plans enforced by dumb imbeciles in dealing with the virus. So, probably the best course of action to celebrate is to burn the imbeciles. Tassies version of Guy Fawkes night.

Vic fighting 'second peak, not second wave' of COVID-19 | Sky News AustraliaDeputy Chief Medical Officer Dr Nick Coatsworth says Victorian health authorities have not lost control of the coronavirus situation as cases rise across the state. \n\nVictoria recorded nearly 100 new cases of the virus at the weekend during a suburban testing blitz as the Andrews government considers reinstating lockdowns to prevent a further surge in infections. \n\n“Out of control would imply large numbers of people sitting in hospital around Australia; there’s only 11 and one in an intensive care unit,” Mr Coatsworth told Sky News. \n\nHe said the Victorian government put “unprecedented” measures in place to curb the spread but he did not “doubt their capacity to bring this under control”. \n\n“The vast majority [of cases] are linked to known outbreaks in Victoria so the cases of community transmission where there are no links at all, which would be of concern, remain in the very small minority of those cases,” he said. \n\n“If you look at the epidemiological curve at the moment it’s better described as a second peak in Victoria’s cases that’s created several geographic outbreaks.” \n\nImage: Getty Semantics🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤷‍♂️🦠🦠🦠😷😷😷 The Murray ain't wide enough we need to put up a fence and have it manned buy Australian defence personnel auapol Please listen to DrDoloresCahill and DrSherriTenpenny They say all of this testing, wearing masks, social distancing and lockdown must stop!!!!
