The number of COVID-19 infections has surpassed 10 million globally with nearly 500,000 deaths in seven months.

A third of all new infections came from India and Brazil in the last week.

Florida emerged as the next epicentre in the United States after it recorded more than 9,000 new infections in one day, with 36 states reporting a rise in cases. Florida’s governor said the spike was a result of a higher level of testing. Image: AP
