A school bus driver has died and a number of students have been injured after the vehicle, carrying more than 30 children, crashed north of Melbourne.

Picture: Nine The college said"a number students were treated for minor injuries at the scene by emergency services", all of whom were expected to return home on Wednesday evening. "Counselling and other support will be made available to students and families," the statement read on Facebook.
Photos from the scene showed the bus on the side of the road with branches of trees on top of the vehicle. One of the first people on the scene, Colby, a local carpenter, told the Herald Sun he was driving home from work in Melbourne when he saw the bus had crashed on Wandong Road.
