Lyndell Turbane, a registered Clermont Belyando native title applicant, has launched a bid to stop Adani from disturbing a cultural heritage site uncovered at the Carmichael mine | NickToscano1 CharlotteGriev1

have identified the area as a “utilised stone resource” which had once been used to source stone for manufacturing flake tools. In the past four years, hundreds of artefacts have been found within the site, the documents say.

“This process which is under way, and the plan to disturb this site and manage the artefacts, must be immediately reviewed, starting with an urgent stop-work order,” the letter said.“The land contains our whole cultural history ... as Wangan and Jagalingou people, we do not wish to have major sites of cultural significance recklessly destroyed and poorly managed.

In 2016, the Wangan and Jagalingou people voted 294 to one in favour of the Carmichael project’s land-use agreement. The proposed new laws would give the Commonwealth the power to override decisions made under state-based frameworks, and empower traditional owners to enforce the Commonwealth protections through civil legal action.

NickToscano1 CharlotteGriev1 The indigenous cultural heritage site has become the standard tool for opponents of any development, once environmental concerns are addressed. There seems to be a much lower evidence threshold for such claims & often the significance is limited to a handful of activists.

NickToscano1 CharlotteGriev1 When will this native title crap be seen as a licence to print money for the sit down mob, all taxpayers money should be ceased ( centre link etc) be ceased moment smart ass lawyers fool the lefties judges, the amount spent on a hopeless cause is a public scandal
