Labor experiencing 'very similar division' to Coalition | Sky News AustraliaFormer Liberal MP Fiona Scott says Labor is experiencing a “very similar division” to the Coalition with its pro-coal rebel faction of MPs calling themselves the Otis Group.\n\n“The Labor right is trying to appeal back to its traditional base of the blue-collar worker,” Ms Scott said.\n\nShe said Opposition Leader Anthony Albanese faces a “challenge” as a member of the Labor left.\n\n“He has been traditionally very much a spear-carrier for all the Labor left ideologies and movements, whether it be climate change or asylum seekers.”\n\n“He not only has to try and pivot the party there, but he’s also got to pivot around some of his historical rhetoric.”\n\nSky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell said it’s apparent Mr Ablanese shied away from committing to a more ambitious emissions reduction target than the government in a January interview because “he knows he’ll really split the NSW right and the national right if he does so”.\n\n“It’s [Shadow Resources Minister Joel] Fitzgibbon getting together between 10 and 20 right-wingers to try and get this group to put pressure on Albanese to say yes to coal and to say no to more ambitious emissions targets,” he said. \n\nImage: Getty Yeahnah No surprises there Make Labor Sensible Again: You can take that to the bank - as I've been warning for some time. No Labor/Labour party can smash up working people's lives with this type of climate nonsense & maintain its credibility.
