Tiny houses are a bit of back to the future. If you were the average Joe building in the 1800's you'd build and live in a single room. If you were a little better off you'd start with two rooms. When you had a few shillings to spare you'd build on an extra room.

the only negative I can see is that they are tiny ...people though are so adaptable they will live in any cave they can call home ...they are better built and cheaper than overpriced and even smaller caravans ...that was a positive or two, I guess ...

Great piece ABC - thanks for the info. Would definitely *not* get this info from commercial media.

They depreciate, they feel impermanent (especially when on wheels) and there's no storage space. SavedYouAClick

4. It is a fact of geometry that as you increase the volume of a space the surface area increase at a lower rate and when it comes to insulation it is all about surface area so smaller spaces can actually turn out to be less energy efficient.

I don't see issues with any of the perceived negatives... So people may have a storage facility for longer term items they only need seasonally. That they are shorter term solutions. That they are on wheels? What is the catch? Does every viable home option need to be faultless?

Tiny Houses are a symptom of the disgraceful capitalist comodification of living space. The fawning over humans having to seek alternate living arrangements whilst capitalist profit from investment properties makes me increasingly angry.

Is it the underside? They don't get any sun down there.

Tiny mouse in spotlight as Aboriginal rangers fight to save vulnerable speciesThe northern hopping mouse has kept its extreme cuteness mostly under wraps on a remote Top End island, but rangers are trying to survey its populations in an effort to better protect it. What’s the scientific name of this hopping mouse please? And the really important thing about this story is the the rangers are Aboriginal, right? I mean it's not like Whitey could do this, because they are born intrinsically different, right? racism IdentityPolitics Aboriginal children are vulnerable too, but hey, let's concentrate on a rat.

We give screen time too much blame for young people's mental health — time to switch focusScreen time given too much blame for its impact on young people's mental health, study finds I'm sure it's the leading cause of massacres. Was this society schizophrenic before and that was the reason why abstract is more important than real, or has the screen tipped people into psychosis from their disposition? Just means they haven't found the link yet... it's there, keep looking. I know, I can see the effects in my kids (i have a few) if they get too much screen time. No doubt about it. Too much must have long term effects
