First thought when moving house - Where is best for the books.

Knowledge is power......lifting. I have probably 30 dictionaries alone.

KrystleRSky

Moved last year 300 books. Not hard.

Who the hell keeps books anymore ? And why? You can keep everything you need I on your ph or a cloud. Keeping books is just hoarding

Gatorau I’ve moved many times in my life. My books are dearer to me than almost anything else I have acquired. No way will I down-size my collection.

Gatorau I most certainly have moved house with a lot more than 30 books. I cannot imagine only owning 30 books.

I have moved twelve times in the last 35 years and have over 4300 books recorded on LibraryThing (& there’s more than that). I am affronted.

You would think no one has heard of a library

As a former English major and current teacher I moved over 100 books last time I moved house. I rent so we move like once a year. It's not that hard. Get some strong boxes and put your back into it.

I read a lot and have a small bookshelf, I buy books on Kindle and if I feel it’s absolutely worth buying physically, then i buy the physical copy because it must be worth paying for twice.

I have moved plenty of times and I still think this is unreasonable.

Marie Kondo creates boom for op shoppers but bad news for oceansThe Japanese organising expert is a boom in op shops but a bust for our oceans. I run an op shop. She has caused a massive spike in landfill, mostly plastic. And the saddest thing is that people will replace all the unsellable crap with more. Think people FFS. This is a BS headline. I can't stand Marie Kondo, but she isn't responsible for the rabid consumerism. I'm all for a tidy home, but I'm absolutely against fast fashion and rampant consumerism which creates unnecessary landfill.

Why you don't really need queen of clean Marie KondoThe queen of cleaning and organising is spreading her message, just as we start to recover from Christmas. I think most people don't need to read a book or watch a tv series or see a psychologist to find out what to keep or to discard or how to clean ! Those who do, however, the procrastinators, could do a lot of cleaning in that time. I couldn’t finish the first episode - I could do a better job organising crap. Hire a skip & chuck the stuff in it 😂

This is why Marie Kondo's advice on books really stingsBooks have become a default personality trait and it's probably not sparking joy. What’s with this Marie kondo craze. She isn’t doing anything special, she doesn’t even fold clothes properly! Is it the broken English? I don't watch people cleaning my own home. Why would anyone watch someone cleaning someone else's home? I don’t have a problem with culling my books, in fact I about to embark on such a cull. However, 30 books only? Just, no!
