Border Force warns Aussie travellers may not be able to swiftly return home | Sky News AustraliaThe Australia Border Force is warning Australians who are planning to leave the country may be unable to swiftly return due to the cap on hotel quarantine places.\n\nSky News Political Editor Andrew Clennell said authorities are cautious about allowing Australians to leave the country.\n\n“Just wanted to touch on this situation with the international borders and the fact that not only is it difficult to get back to Australia, it is actually difficult to get out,”Mr Clennell said.\n \n“On the basis of health advice received by the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee of chief health officers federal and state in May, people who want to leave the country for an overseas holiday are generally being refused exit to the country.”\n \nMr Clennell said authorities are approving around 75% of applicants who wish to leave the country, but not for recreational purposes.\n \n'It is for people who have to travel for business, for a bereavement or visit to an ill relative or expatriates travelling back to a country they live in,' Mr Clennell said.\n \n'The Australian Border Force is saying to citizens who want to leave the country: 'You can go but you might not be able to get a flight back.'”\n \n'In terms of returning, the difficulty is that flights are being cancelled because of the cap that state governments are putting on their quarantine programs.'\n\nThe Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade say 371,000 Australians have returned home since March people should reconsider travel. \n\nThere are still Australians who are oversees who have told officials 18,800 they want to come home.\n Who would want to come back to what do we call it now, “The Collective Pacific Asia States” cause it’s definitely NOT Australia.
