Hotel quarantine has become one of the most important tools in combatting the spread of coronavirus, but the system is far from perfect. Experts say we may have to look to different solutions in the long term.

Western Australia's defensive barrier was also found lacking this week when

"I think initially it [hotel quarantine] was a very effective strategy and I think most states have managed it really well," she said. "It's an issue of sustainability … we will have to start looking at other methods and whether that is more long-term prospects for people being able to safely isolate at home, or do we look at other options in terms of facilities … it all needs to be explored.

I think it’s pretty obvious we already can’t.

Maybe get some educated people to work for a start who can grasp the concept of cleanliness and PPE.

'He felt it was time to move to home isolation'... We had home isolation. Too many selfish a**holes were doing the wrong thing so we were forced to move to supervised quarentine.

In other countries home isolation is allowed and it is more safer model ...

It's a virus. It will get out no matter what unless we completely isolate from the world...and that is not an option. Has anyone seen the precautions used in labs to keep viruses in? Have you seen similar at the Rydges hotel?

Ummm.... in Victoria only until some Randy Sheila wants Maccas🤷‍♂️

Apparently not long in Victoria

How long can we rely on human error and sloppy governance? Self isolation has been the main tool that has kept others from being infected in the pandemic. Hotels are a logical place for people to self isolate who arrive from overseas or other states.

More innovative solutions are needed rather than locking up returning Aussies. A more rigorous testing regime plus an electronic GPS tag and self-isolation at home is a kinder and less resource-heavy alternative to hotel quarantine!

They didn’t keep anyone safe

WA Premier reveals plan to make people in hotel quarantine wear monitoring braceletsDays after two women allegedly breached hotel quarantine to attend a party, WA Premier Mark McGowan revealed he wants to force people who presented a flight risk or had a criminal history to wear a monitoring bracelet. ALL POLITICIANS SHOULD BE *MANDATORY DRUG TESTED* and wear one of these so the people that they work for (you and me) know what exactly the hell they are upto at all times... I hope the people see how they are testing certain things at different places to see the publics reaction - this is all testing so they can try to (but wont succeed) swoop in and blanket the world with these RESTRICTIONS. WAKE PEOPLE UP! May be we can brand permanent tatoos on their heads for quick identification. Deviant behaviour like asking for basic freedoms need to be outlawed for achievement of stable Australian reich. Nothing says duty of care like a bogan tatoo on forehead. Start with Palmer. 'Unreasonable demands': Health staff ignored suicide threat in hotel quarantine, inquiry toldHealth officials lost track of returned travellers staying in Melbourne's hotel quarantine scheme and threats of suicide were dismissed, according to a nurse giving evidence at an inquiry into the botched program. I'm sick of the people in this story harping on about mask usage. If people recall, the unnamed nurse was shown a training document from the Australian government which clearly showed masks won't stop the spread of the virus. Get off the hind-sight bandwagon. They didn't know.
