The elite Sydney girls' school may build a swimming pool and childcare centre under its controversial $48.7 million masterplan.

An elite Sydney girls’ school plans to bulldoze a heritage-listed building as part of a multi-million dollar development proposal for new facilities that may house a swimming pool and childcare centre.

Jane Anderson and Rodney Hanratty have expressed concern about plans to demolish a heritage-listed building on the SCEGGS Darlinghurst campus. But the plan to demolish the historic building has been criticised by nearby residents and the National Trust, which said it should be “seriously re-thought”.

“The school should retain Wilkinson House’s facade at the very least while renovating the interiors for adaptive reuse,” he said in a letter to NSW Planning Minister Rob Stokes. Mr Greenwich also raised concerns about serious traffic congestion caused by school users and the $48.7 million price tag of the school’s plans.

“We do not regard this masterplan as overdevelopment,” she said. “We work hard to maintain good relations with our neighbours, allowing our facilities to be used for many community activities and supporting many community initiatives.”Darlinghurst resident Rodney Hanratty said the school’s plan was an “inappropriate overdevelopment for such a delicate heritage neighbourhood".

Folau fires back at Rugby AustraliaUPDATE: Israel Folau has requested a code of conduct hearing, challenging Rugby Australia's decision to terminate his contract. They quoted anti-discrimination laws - freedom of religion is also covered in those laws. As he quoted the bible, i don't know if they can argue that he vilified gay people without saying the bible in totality vilifies gay people. It will be an interesting case. I don't agree with the lad's comments, but last time I checked, in this country, you have the freedom to voice an opinion. And when it comes right down to it - why aren't the lefties going after whoever taught him this crap in the first place? How about he can say whatever he likes and others can choose whether to listen? What's next? Is Rugby Australia going to condemn Islam? Our Muslim friends take a dim view of homosexuality as well; or do we only target Christians these days? IsraelFolau auspol
