Fires are now exceeding all known firefighting technologies but what can be done to stop them?

One of the biggest changes to occur since 1788 is our widespread settlement across flammable landscapes.

Firefighting experts and senior scientists tell Background Briefing they're concerned the Federal Government is refusing to guarantee funding for the only national research body for bushfires beyond 2021. We need truly novel, and creative, financial and social incentives to help individuals and communities undertake the necessary work. There are new"outside the box" options to reduce fire risk to communities that need trialling.

A comment was made by an official that these fires are creating their own environment.... ......this is climate change, not permanent.....yet

ABC are doing their own version of a Orsan Welles this week.

🤯Bowman, professor of environmental change biology at the University of Tasmania - a voice of reason positing a balanced view of bushfires. Climate change is part of the puzzle (but only part). The remedy 'is a long-range program, not a quick fix'.

The 'Unprecedented conditions' section is very deceptive, a biased opinion at best. '...rainforests, that rarely burn in nature...' That is an admission that things are in fact not unprecedented, rather they are simply unusual or rare. The writer shoots themselves in the foot.🙄

1859 & 1939 were much worse, too bad we have a history ABC, a lot like the 1989 UN Climate Report too. History may be An Inconvenient Truth for the Left but it is there for all to see.

Resources are stretched.....call in our armed services....

A helpful suggestion for green fire breaks between bushland and more urban areas, but the point about rainforests burning is indicative of a serious lack of understanding or preventative action frm authorities, vis Fed Govt. Unacceptable performance...

When is the govn / media etc going to realise that the public have woken to the propaganda tricks . Its too late . They are awake !

Climate change and no burn off. Selfish politicians chasing the inner city vote and those poor people are paying the price. BurnOff

Bunk, if bush fires result of climate change, what happened in 2019 for them to start and continue into the future?

Does anyone doubt this organisation is propagandist now?

I don't think that people have grasped the danger of continuing business as usual. Its not like touching up a painting that has been blemished by age. nature does what the climate regulates it to do.

Undertake regular controlled burns.

By back burning and clearing the ground in high risk areas? You know, like we've been doing for ever until it was stopped and created these fires

By electing a government with an effective disaster management plan and willing to fund it?

Perhaps by going back to regular burn offs.

Ahh , there were bushfires when Cook arrived 250 years ago . Try dealing in facts , not fake news .
