Teals News

Sophie Scamps stood for election as an independent voice, promising to restore integrity and decency to Parliament.

The Teals missed a golden opportunity to prove they aren’t a political wing of the renewables industry by roundly condemning nuclear

Indeed, they do, which is why Scamps should lay her cards on the table and explain why she opposes nuclear power, our most reliable clean energy technology. Sophie Scamps and Monique Ryan during Question Time at Parliament House in Canberra. Picture: NewsWire/ Martin Ollman North Sydney MP Kylea Tink said the Teal’s parliamentary voice should “be heard for its individuality, not because we think we have all the answers.”

On nuclear, however, she has refused to budge, standing shoulder to shoulder with her fellow Teals, who, we are assured, landed independently on the same conclusion that the ban on nuclear power must remain. “The political system in Australia continues to favour the major parties who rely on donations from big business – including the fossil fuel industry – unions and lobby groups to entrench their power.”
