SpaceX aims for orbital test for Starship system in DecemberSpaceX is one step closer to the first orbital test flight of its launch system Starship after a successful test of its booster, says ANU astrophysicist and cosmologist Dr Brad Tucker. “This is what we call a static test, so it was on the ground, not all of the engines were lit up, but that’s okay, this was a big step actually to test it,” he told Sky News Australia. “This booster, it is a gigantic booster rocket that they hope for Starship, which is the capsule that would sit on top … to be able to go eventually to the moon.” Dr Tucker said the test was important not just for the new engine but to assess an “entirely new design”. “They clearly have a few more tests to go before they do their orbital test, i.e., into space,” he said. Dr Tucker said SpaceX intends to have the orbital test completed “by the end of the year”. Someone tell them it's all been done before! JoyRidesInSpaceAreNotCool Blimey, there’s a successful booster… AND someone actually tested it first!
