One thing you won't need on Monday if you live in mainland Australia is an umbrella - unless it doubles as a parasol.

The Bureau of Meteorology had forecast Australia to be all but rainless for the day - aside from a tiny splotch off the Kimberley and western Tasmania.

Tasmania, which is typically exposed to westerlies, is usually wet on its west coast but eastern parts can be dry. Hobart is the driest capital after Adelaide. For instance, the bureau highlighted September 12 as similar to Monday's conditions, however pockets of rainfall were still evident in Queensland, Victoria and Western Australia. The past 30 days of rain.WeatherZone's Joel Pippard said the aridity was caused by a dry air mass in central Australia, which has been squeezed out to the coast through several troughs.

In other words, rainfall after 9am will be counted as November 12 - not there is much likely to be tallied.

Everything you always wanted to know about statistics (but were afraid to ask)Wealth, health, happiness – it's all in the data these days. But look again: what exactly are the numbers telling you? CraigDButt Great article! I’d like to see another deal with predictive models, and how data changes over time (also changing the prediction). people deny climate change because X event predicted 20 years ago didn’t happen, even though data / variables / collection tech changes over time.

Remembrance Day 'binds us in the face of adversity' | Sky News AustraliaDirector of the Australian War Memorial Brendan Nelson says Remembrance Day “binds us in the face of adversity born largely by what we’ve seen in military service”. \n\n“Today in modern Australia, Remembrance Day is the day we pause to reflect upon the political, economic and religious freedoms that we enjoy, that have been underwritten for us and delivered by two million Australian men and women who wear and have worn the uniform of our three service,” he told Sky News. \n\n'If we’re not directly affected by fires, I think we have a responsibility to observe a minute of silence at 11am to reflect on the sacrifices and spirit of mateship that binds us in the face of adversity.” \n\nImage: News Corp Australia Which is true. We mourn for all soldiers no matter what cultural, sexual or religious creeds. Lest we forget. We do. And we remember the negligent incompetence of the British command who sent so many Australians to an early death. Cut the BS. They never thought they was fighting for politicians & rich corporate bosses to increase the wage difference between them & low paid workers. They never fought for criminals to be given light sentences. They fought for the Australian pensioner/worker to be treated fair
