Their ABC: What’s wrong with the ABC and how to fix it.
For an organisation that criticises the ABC for a lack of diversity of views , the IPA appears to have limited its speakers to the “known suspects” – critics who by and large have advocated defunding or privatising the public broadcaster, or transforming it into a subscription service. Such responses to the ABC are symptomatic of the very “cancel culture” that traditional conservatives implacably oppose. The ABC is a crucial component of Australia’s civil discourse. It is politically unrealistic to call for the ABC to be effectively “cancelled”, not least because of its admirable record on many features Australians value, such as emergency broadcasting, children’s programming and serving rural and regional communities, to name but three.
It is my view that the ABC should have more conservative voices. I have said so publicly, but the directors cannot and do not interfere with editorial decision-making. This ensures the national broadcaster is at arm’s length from the government of the day.
As a plan, it recognises that the “bias” of which many complain is not so much the consequence of self-selecting politics, but rather a difference of political priorities and perceptions of those living in inner cities, which often contrasts with those living in rural and regional Australia. Over time, this also will better reflect the cultural and linguistic diversity of modern Australia.Classical liberals hold that freedom of speech is a manifestation of the belief in individual liberty.

Yes we need an independent broadcaster that informs and entertains but not one that has taken upon itself the role of establishing social values. That has traditionally been the role of religions.
The ABC vibe is centrist. Conservatives are so far to to the right that mainstream views are all left-wing to them.

By conservative voices you mean IPA/Murdoch. The Murdochs have been railing against the ABC since it's inception because they wanted to own the 'truth'.

Obviously to balance things out, the ABC needs to setup some programs run by QAnon, the anti-vaxxers, the climate deniers, the blind trust allegiance, the NRA /s Imagine being so far right, you think the ABC is left leaning
ABC and SBS should be totally independent and free from interference by the ruling Govt. We have seen how mass media can incite and provoke people in believing in all kind of conspiracy theories in USA. Australia needs an antidote to the evil MurdochGutterMedia

If ONLY the ABC’s vibe were more left than right! It hasn’t been even reliably centre for years! I demand the national broadcaster uses our tax money to keep the political bas*ards honest. Under the hideous ScoMo sh*t show, any calling to account has been wildly inadequate IMO.

Don’t commission a few so called experts to look at the ABC. At least use focus groups on why people have turned away from the ABC. If you can’t see that 730, 4 Corners & The Drum lean to the Left/Postmodernism then you need new glasses. Male hate is common to these programs.
