A Tesla electric car that “no one” appeared to be driving has crashed in Texas, erupting into flames and killing the two passengers, according to local authorities.

One victim was found in the front passenger seat of a 2019 Model S and the other was in the rear, Harris County Precinct 4 Constable Mark Herman said in a telephone interview. The car ran into a tree in the Carlton Woods subdivision near The Woodlands after traveling at high speed and failing to navigate a turn.

Herman said his office is co-ordinating with federal authorities, without specifying which ones, and didn’t know whether the Autopilot feature was engaged. It took more than 113,000 litres of water to extinguish the fire, which burned for four hours, he added. Authorities were still investigating as of Sunday morning whether the front passenger airbag was deployed, the report added.

Seems like a case of natural selection and certainly a case for a Darwin Award.

Just what elonmusk was saying

Meanwhile over 100 Americans were killed just yesterday (38,000 in 2020) driving non Tesla cars.

'It took more than 113,000 litres of water to extinguish the fire, which burned for four hours.' Gotta love those EV battery chemical fires. Portable human incinerators in the event of being trapped with a damaged battery pack🙄
