Some independent schools in Sydney are breaking ranks with government advice by shutting down buildings and holding lessons online because of the coronavirus pandemic.

From next week, children from kindergarten to Year 10 will work on school-issued iPads with one-third of classes delivered through Zoom video call, and the remainder through set coursework.Stay up-to-date on the coronavirus outbreak

Headmistress Kate Hadwen said the approach was more"fair and equitable" for students who were choosing to stay home because of concerns over the virus. Sydney Catholic Schools increased pressure on the State Government to close school buildings"as a matter of urgency".

Around 1.7 million Saigon students will stay home until April 5, while Hanoi schools will only reopen around March 23 or 30. This has been a government directive since February 5. Online education has been successful as well as teachers dropping off school work packages.

Ooh! Here’s a thought. We can move students from the overcrowded public schools over to the empty campuses of the big private schools which ahould allow us to maintain our 1.5 metre social distancing more effectively.
