People in Sydney and Melbourne have cut their travel to 20 per cent of ordinary levels this week, while movement in cities in lockdown such as Rome has dropped to as low as 4 per cent | pallavisinghal

A number of countries including China, South Korea and Singapore have slowed the spread of the virus without imposing national lockdowns through a combination of widespread testing, contact tracing and targeted isolations.Credit:Travel in Hong Kong and Seoul was still at 37 per cent of normal levels this week, according to a mobility index created by Citymapper, which provides location tracking and trip planning tools.

"We're focusing on trying to get people to reconsider the need to travel, everyone needs to be asking themselves: do I need to go outside," Associate Professor Kamradt-Scott said."We're in a pandemic, not a national outbreak, so for lockdowns to stop the virus completely we would need around 200 countries to implement lockdowns across the board at the same time and with the same stringency.

About half the population is practising strong social distancing, which is unlikely to be effective in delaying the peak, the studies found. Co-author of that study Mikhail Prokopenko said a vaccine was the only way to stop more outbreaks. "Resurgence is a real phenomena," he said.In China, the number of new cases reported daily has fallen to less than 150 this week and the number of deaths daily has dropped to less than 10.

pallavisinghal why are they running bus time tables to normal when they are empty? just cut the service to 1/hr
