From discussions of the pros and pitfalls of generative artificial intelligence, to an opportunity to be in the same room as Chance the Rapper or Nicole Kidman, the first
The scale of SXSW Sydney is such that even Colin Daniels, its managing director, admits he couldn’t name all of the more than 1000 events – including an ideas conference, live music series, e-gaming competition and film festival – that the event will cram into its eight days.
The cost of unfettered serendipity will be high at SXSW Sydney, which is being promoted by TEG Live with financial assist from the NSW government. A “platinum” badge that gets you into every event is $1895, although there are stream-based badges to be had for less than $500 apiece. All 9000 gaming badges, at $195 apiece, were sold out by last month.
Daniels says his biggest challenge has been getting the Australian public to comprehend the enormous program. Given TEG Live has inked a five-year deal with the Austin festival’s owners to hold the event in Sydney, he expects that task to get easier with time.In the interests of self-interest, Daniels says executives should check out the conference’s extensive artificial intelligence program.
