The average interstate and regional concert-goer spent $500 including $37 on clothing and accessories and another $120 on attractions.

Domestic travellers spending up big in Sydney and Melbourne during Taylor Swift’s Eras tour splashed more than $170 million in six days across restaurants, shops and other attractions, in a boon for the two cities that would have drawn on discretionary spending pools in other states.or potential inflationary driver, data compiled by CommBankIQ revealed Swifties travelling to Melbourne from the regions and interstate injected $81 million into the city over three nights.

“It’s not so much a question of does Taylor drive the Australian economy … it’s the fact she has pulled a huge amount of money into two metro centres,” CommBankIQ head analyst Wade Tubman toldAcross the tour, the average interstate and regional concert-goer – of which there were about 200,000 – spent $37 on clothing and accessories and another $120 on attractions, the bulk of which stayed in the local economy, Mr Tubman said.

But Mr Tubman believes this figure could end up being much higher, given the spending habits of domestic and regional travellers jumped significantly, and the bank is yet to secure the full raft of insights on international travellers, who were not included in any of the data.

Swift jetted to Singapore last week and ignited regional tensions after revelations the Singaporean government had offered the billionaire entertainer subsidies of up $US3 million a show to lock in an exclusivity deal, which precluded other stops in the region, including Malaysia.
