Allegations of tension with a Swans teammate over a former girlfriend which led to Sam Wicks being left out of the side that lost to Richmond on Sunday appear to have been smoothed over.
Wicks, 24, was part of the Swans side for the first three rounds but was left out on Sunday. He had the highest average for tackles inside 50 metres last season, an area where the Swans struggled in their upset loss against previously winless Richmond, finishing with just four tackles inside 50 to the Tigers’ 14.
“But this week, we’ve decided to do the same thing as far as pick the best team that we can, that we think will give us the best chance against West Coast, and Sam will be available for selection, and we’ll work through what that looks like.”“No, we’ll get on with playing footy,” he said. It is full circle for Adams, who moved to Sydney in 2012 to be part of the GWS Giants’ inaugural squad as a teenager, then after two seasons spent a decade at Collingwood.
“And so to be able to add another experienced head to that – off the field in a meeting sense, and on the field in a training sense – what he says at different times during the training sessions during the games that he’s played for us in the scratch matches, so far, just adds to the value that he brings to the group.
