A man died after being stabbed by a stranger on Frankston pier on Saturday morning, police said.The Frankston Pier and foreshore.A Victoria Police spokesman said the man was unresponsive by the time officers reached him and died at the scene. Shortly after, officers arrested a man on the nearby foreshore.The pier and foreshore, about 40 kilometres south-east of Melbourne’s CBD, have been cordoned off while detectives from the homicide squad investigate the crime scene.
No one else is believed to have been involved in the assault, according to the police spokesman. “It is also believed the parties involved were not known to one another,” he said. 3AW reported the deceased man was a fisherman, with witnesses saying they saw an argument on the pier before the attack.
