Splendour in the Grass, Falls Festival threaten to leave NSW over lack of government consultation | LisaVisentin

The threat to leave NSW comes as industry groups Live Performance Australia and the Australian Festival Association confirmed that a meeting with Customer Service Minister Victor Dominello on Monday failed to assuage their concerns. The groups described the draft legislation as "unworkable".

Live Performance Australia’s chief executive Evelyn Richardson said an industry roundtable was "best practice" and "at the very least this should be reflected in the new legislation". Ms Richardson said the music festival sector was worth $100 million nationally, with more than 50 per cent of the revenue generated in NSW."Last year in NSW, more than 400,000 people attended a music festival, that’s 43 per cent of the national figure. And 20,000 more than the year before.

Mr Dominello introduced the bill last week to impose a festival safety system after the government's licensing regime was scrapped last month by the upper house.

LisaVisentin If these drug festival promoters themselves paid for adequate numbers of ordinary staff, security staff and emergency medical staff, and they were actually music festivals not drug festivals... there wouldn’t be problems.

LisaVisentin Lord mayor clever no more....wants no more noodles night market...no more Sydney festival...WTF does she want? A good kick up her ass?

LisaVisentin Be good to see these drugfests end. The music must be shit anyway if you need to be out of it on drugs. Good riddance.
