Spain has voted in its third general election in four years, with fears a far-right party will enter parliament for the first time in decades.

The interior ministry said on Sunday afternoon that turnout at that point was 4 per cent higher than the previous ballot. The incumbent prime minister, Pedro Sanchez, is set to win the most votes, but his socialists are expected to struggle to secure a majority in parliament to form a government on their own.

Three right-wing parties are fighting the election, including the once-dominant conservative Popular Party , the centre-right Citizens, and the nationalist and anti-migrant Vox party, which looks set to enter the lower house of parliament for the first time. Austerity, recession and chronic unemployment have led to the rise in far-right populism in Spain.

Sky, your headlines are fast becoming more amusing than newscomauHQ. Fears? You mean people are now waking up to the fact that left leaning governments ruin societies?

Smart 🇪🇸😊

Yeah, 'fears' that the far right party might get some seats. But no 'fears' that the idiot far left socialists might continue to fuck things up, right?
