Her experiences have helped inform a new resettlement program that looks to harness the same community spirit thatin Queensland, after four years in immigration detention. The program has received $8.9 million in federal government funding and hopes to help 1500 refugees over the next three years. It stems from

Biloela celebrates the fifth birthday of Tharnicaa Nadesalingam, alongside her sister Kopika and parents Priya and Nades.“Most families coming through the program are those who don’t have strong family links to people in Australia,” Button said. “They are arriving without strong social networks and could really benefit from the support of a group of people that is invested in their welfare and success.
