Settlement 'not enough' to move on from PFAS contamination

A Queensland couple whose land was contaminated by toxic chemicals used on a nearby Defence base say a financial settlement is not enough to help them move on.A Federal court judge approved a $212 million settlement in February for properties contaminated by PFAS

The settlement relates to contamination from chemicals in a toxic firefighting foam used on Defence bases at Oakey, Williamtown and KatherineJennifer Spencer and her partner were awarded $140,000 for diminution of land values and stress and suffering caused by the PFAS contamination of their Oakey property in the state's south., she said she was not happy with her amount.

"I wouldn't say it's enough compensation to restart a life, but it is enough to let us start to move past the last six years," Ms Spencer said. "I feel that I deserve more compensation for the pain and suffering parts more so than I do for the diminishing of our property value. "When I received that letter saying the property was contaminated with the PFAS chemical, I opened up that letter from the Defence Department, and I knew then that this was the beginning of the end of my life as I knew it."Ms Spencer said speaking to the media caused a lot of "pain and angst" within the community.

As George Floyd is mourned, the world stops to say 'enough'British boxer Anthony Joshua says 'the virus has been declared a pandemic and is out of control. The virus I'm referring to is called racism.' Floyd was a hardcore criminal. I think what we have had enough of are these bizarre protests that have clearly been hijacked by some very, very sketchy individuals. I don't mourn the loss of drug addicted armed robbers.
