Bupa Seaforth's accreditation expires on October 27. If it doesn't meet the 44 standards, the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission will take away its licence permanently and cut funding. But Senator Colbeck said approved providers must either return to compliance or"risk having their status revoked, which brings significant financial penalty".Bupa received almost $460 million in government subsidies for their nursing homes last year.Jason Ward, from the Tax Justice Network, spent a year investigating private providers of aged care in Australia, including Bupa. He said Bupa has become too big for the Government to fail it.
